Military plane crash in Mississippi kills 16 service members
There was a military transport plane crash during a training flight in Mississippi on Monday. The Marine Forces Reserve has confirmed 16 military service members have been killed.
According to Richard Spencer, 15 of the deceased were Marines and one was a sailor. Spencer was Trump’s administration’s nominee for Navy Secretary and addressed the crash during his opening remarks of his Senate confirmation hearing this morning.
According to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, the Marine Corps KC-130 aircraft crashed about 85 miles north of Jackson, Mississippi around 4 p.m. The plane left Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. The plane vanished from air traffic radar somewhere over Mississippi.
The cause of the crash is still unknown and under investigation according to The Marine Forces Reserve.
