Mongomery High School Teen Dies in Accident, Three Others Injured

Montgomery High School student, Lucy Sanders, 16, was killed Sunday when she lost control of the truck she was driving and hit a tree. Sanders had three other passengers in her Dodge Ram 1500 truck.
Dillon Rothe, 16, Payton Small, 18 and Corbin Wieland, 17, were all transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, Texas Medical Center is Houston, officials said. Rothe and Wieland suffered multiple internal injuries and remain in critical conditions, on assisted breathing ventilators.
Hospital officials have confirmed that Small is in stable, but critical condition. The status of his injuries has not yet been released by the hospital.
Although investigation of the accident continues, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have highlighted excessive speeds as one of the key aspects of the crash’s severity. In addition, authorities investigating the scene suspect that none of the teens was wearing a seatbelt.
Rothe, Sanders and Wieland are confirmed students at Montgomery High School, principal, Phil Eaton, said. Small is as a student at Conroe High School.
