Many Injured in Escalator Accident at Convention Center

An escalator accident in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center left more than 10 people injured on Wednesday when the escalator malfunctioned, causing as many as 20 people to topple, officials said.

According to authorities on the scene, the convention center in San Antonio was hosting a crowd of visitors for a DISH Network summit.

The identities of those injured in the escalator mishap have not yet been released and it has not been revealed whether any of those victims were tied to the Dish Network summit.

In a report published by KENS5, a spokesperson for the convention center revealed that the escalator had malfunctioned previously, in August 2012. The fore-mentioned escalator accident did not prompt as many injuries.
