A woman crossing an intersection was killed when she was hit by a car, Wednesday morning, San Antonio Police Department officials said.

The woman, identified as 64-year-old, Mary Christine Estrello, was crossing East Southcross Boulevard near Pecan Grove Drive when she was struck by a red pickup truck, officials said.

The nurse was crossing the street from a bus stop to her workplace at an adult daycare center, San Antonio Police Officer, Aaron Jolley said.

Police said the driver of the truck, Jonathan Kane Mungia, reported that he did not see the woman at the time of the Texas pedestrian accident, causing authorities to speculate that his windows may have been covered in ice.

Mungia reportedly left the scene of the accident, returning a few minutes later. Police said they will be charging him with failure to stop and render aid.
