One Dead and at Least Five Others Injured in Austin Car Accident on US 183

One person died and at least five others were injured in a car accident outside Austin on US 183 in Leander, Thursday night, police said.

Authorities said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck veered into the opposite lane of traffic, smashing into a Hyundai SUV, which, in turn, struck a Toyota SUV. Police identified the driver of the pickup as Eugenio Tai, 76, of Leander. Tai was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Hyundai SUV was identified as Kimberly Floyd, 41, of Liberty Hill.

Four other people in addition to Floyd were transported to St. Davids Medical Center in round Rock. Two of the occupants, who were children, were transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Tressa Pollard, was not injured in the Austin car wreck.
