One dead following 3-car crash in Bastrop County
One man was killed and 2 others injured during a three-car collision on Texas 21 in Bastrop County yesterday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
61-year-old John Malcom Gwin, of Paige, died after his van was struck from behind by a 2011 Chevy Cruise. Gwin had slowed down to turn north onto Pine Valley Court when he was hit, and pushed into the westbound lanes of traffic, where he was struck again by a Ford Explorer.
Gwin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mary Helen Macias, 46, and Benita Leal Trujillo, 44, of Giddings were both taken to Seton Medical Center Willamson with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash has been identified as 20-year-old Mason Andrew Miller of Bryan, according to Department of Public Safety officials. Both Miller, and his passenger, Jordan Rene Graves, 21, of Alvin, were treated and released at the scene.
DPS officials are still investigating the crash.
