One Killed in Car Accident Outside Copperas Cove, One Injured

A car accident near Copperas Cove claimed the life of one driver and sent another to the hospital with serious injuries on Wednesday morning, officials reported.

Although police have not revealed the names of either of the drivers involved in the Central Texas auto accident, the driver who was killed was identified as an employee for the Texas Department of Criminal Defense, located in Gatesville.

According to police reports, the driver who was killed was attempting to pass multiple vehicles on Perryman Creek Road, between Copperas Cove and Gatesville. As a result, that driver swerved back into his lane of traffic. Before he was able to get back into his northbound lane of traffic, the vehicle side swiped another vehicle, which was traveling in the southbound lane of traffic. Both vehicles lost control as a result of the sideswipe accident.

The injured driver was trapped in the vehicle, where emergency personnel freed the driver. He was transported to the hospital for the treatment of injuries he endured as a result of the Copperas Cove crash.
