One Killed in Loop 410 Car Accident in San Antonio, Three Injured

A car accident on Loop 410 in San Antonio killed one man and an unborn baby and left three other people injured on Thursday afternoon police said.

According to authorities, the accident involving three vehicles resulted when the driver of a Pontiac Grand AM lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed, crossing into the opposite lanes of traffic and colliding with another vehicle.

Police identified the man who was killed as 21-year-old Fernando Guerrero, who was a passenger in the Pontiac Grand Am that lost control, smashing into the other vehicle. The driver of the Pontiac was identified as 45-year-old Linda Guerrero.

The vehicle that was struck by the Pontiac was occupied by a group of teenagers, one of which was pregnant. An emergency c-section was attempted but the baby was still born, officials said.

The drivers of the other vehicles involved were transported to University Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the San Antonio Loop 410 collision but are still investigating the cause of the accident in order to understand what may have caused the first vehicle to lose control. They believe speed played a role in the San Antonio car accident.
