A rollover accident in Midland left one man dead on Tuesday night when the driver lost control of his SUV, overturning the vehicle multiple times before it came to a rest near Loop 250 and Crestway Drive, police reported.

Officials identified the man, who was killed in the rollover crash in Midland, as Anthony Shaw, 55. Police said Shaw is a resident of Midland.

According to a report published by NewsWest 9, Shaw may have been traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the SUV and attempted to regain control, swerving to avoid other vehicles on the roadway.

Shaw was ejected from the SUV and police believe he may not have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, leaving him vulnerable.

Authorities had to call Animal Control to help with two pets that were in the SUV at the time of the auto accident.

Defective Auto Equipment Attorneys in Texas

While some victims of rollover accidents walk away from a crash scene with minor injuries, other victims are not as lucky when the auto equipment, designed to protect them, fails to operate in the manner designed. Seat belts that fail can leave occupants at risk of ejection. In addition, airbags that either fail to deploy or deploy at the wrong time can result in serious injuries.
