One Killed in Salado House Fire
A house fire in Salado left one many dead and claimed the homes of nine people Wednesday night, officials reported.
The victim of the fire was identified by officials as 30-year-old Alejandro Torres Jr. The fire was believed to have started in Torres’ bedroom.
The house that became engulfed in flames was occupied by ten people at the time of the fire. Only nine of those people were able to escape.
The house was a complete loss. Additionally, a vehicle and two campers were damaged in the fire accident in Salado.
Authorities believe the fire, on Irene Lane, started around 11 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Smoke detectors either were not in place, not working or did not operate as intended, firefighters said.
Early investigations revealed that the fire may have been sparked by a space heater. Police are still looking into the details of the fatal house fire in Salado.
