Four people were injured and one woman was killed on Sunday in a car accident involving two vehicles in East Texas.

Waco resident, 40-year-old Betsey Salazar, was pronounced dead at the scene of the East Texas car accident, authorities said.

According to officials, a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Erik Shawn Green, 30, of Arlington, Texas, was traveling northbound on Highway 19, when Green crossed the center line, smashing into a 2000 Nissan Xterra.

The Xterra, in which Salazar was a passenger, was driven by Luebin Garcia, 24. Anna Pecina, 22 and Marysol Pecina, 21, were also passengers in the Xterra, Department of Public Safety troopers said. All three women were taken to a local hospital for injured sustained in the wreck.

Police are still investigating why Green may have lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer into the southbound lane of traffic.
