Out of Control Car Sparks Motorcycle Accident in Temple, Three Injured
A motorcycle accident in Temple, Texas sent one rider to the hospital on Thursday after a vehicle struck the bike, ejecting the rider and sending him more than 20 feet, police said.
The motorcyclist was identified by officials as 45-year-old William Pettyjohn, a 14-year veteran of the Temple Police Department.
Pettyjohn was expected to recover from the injuries endured in the auto accident on I-35, police said.
The vehicle involved, which appear to lose control right before striking the motorcycle, was identified as a Chrsyler sedan, which was involved in a slight accident with another vehicle prior to losing control, police said. The other vehicle involved was identified as a pickup truck. As a result of the initial collision with the Chrysler, the pickup truck rolled several times.
Two occupants in the pickup truck were transported to the hospital with injuries resulting from the initial accident.
Initial investigations reported by KWTX News noted that the driver of the Chrysler may have struck the pickup truck, sparking the initial accident that caused the subsequent crash with the motorcycle policeman.
