A man sitting at a bus stop was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident occurred at Marbach by Harness Lane, police said. According to reports, the man was struck by the vehicle, which fled the scene, early this morning.

A driver passing the scene reported the injuries to police and the man was transported to University Hospital. He was most recently listed in critical condition and endured surgery for his injuries.

Pieces of a vehicle were found nearby the scene of the accident and authorities believe they may be related to the hit and run accident. Once a driver is located police said they will most likely be charged with failure to stop and render aid.
