Pedestrian Killed in 18 Wheeler Accident on I-35 in Austin
An 18 wheeler accident involving a pedestrian in Austin forced police to shut down Interstate 35 on Wednesday morning when the pedestrian was struck by the big rig while attempting to cross the roadway, officials said.
The pedestrian accident on I-35 in Austin caused the 18 wheeler to overturn on the interstate, landing on the median between the north and south bound lanes. The truck was loaded with glass bottles and empty pallets, according to a report by KVUE news. The contents of the truck spilled into the roadway as a result of the rollover.
The pedestrian, who was identified as 28-year-old Christopher Eugene Menard, was pronounced dead at the scene of the18 wheeler accident on I-35. The driver of the 18 wheeler truck was transported to University Medical Center in Brackenridge with minor injuries, authorities said. The Austin Statesman reported that this pedestrian accident on I-35 was the 39th traffic fatality in Austin.
Police are still investigating the pedestrian accident in Austin and have not filed any charges as of yet.
