Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Austin Car Accident
A pedestrian accident in Austin left one man with serious injuries when he was struck by a Jeep SUV while crossing Anderson Road, police said.
According to police reports, the man was pinned beneath the SUV when he was struck at approximately 6 p.m.
The driver of the Jeep stopped and attempted to help the man who was struck.
Police do not believe the pedestrian was crossing in a crosswalk when he was struck by the Jeep.
Crossing in crosswalks is vital to protecting walkers and joggers. But despite the presence of crosswalks, crossing in what appears to be a safe place doesn’t guarantee pedestrians safety. Instead, distractions and inattention result in pedestrian accidents across the state, which are entirely preventable.
Looking before making left turns and staying aware of pedestrians in the roadway is vital to protecting walkers and drivers alike, especially in regions where foot traffic is heavy in downtown Austin areas and regions where events and activities are abundant.
