A Ford Explorer rollover near Harlingen left a pregnant woman dead after emergency crews were forced to deliver her baby and she was transported to an area hospital, officials reported.

The young woman was identified as 19-year-old Niser Quilantan-Saldana, a resident of Mission, Texas, police said. She was traveling with a 19-year-old male and a two-year old child, both of whom experienced injuries resulting from the single-vehicle rollover.

The infant that was delivered by emergency crew members at the scene of the crash survived and is in the NICU. The baby’s mother was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, but later passed away as a result of the injuries she suffered in the wreck.

The car accident on HWY 77 near Kenedy County occurred with the driver of the SUV appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. As a result, it over turned before crashing into a nearby tree.

The male and child were listed in stable condition, officials reported.
