RECALL: dressers pose ‘serious tip-over hazard’

More than 8,000 dressers have been recalled because they are unstable unless properly anchored to the wall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission reports.

The Storybrook brand product sold exclusively at poses a serious tip-over hazard that could end up seriously injuring or killing a child.

The recall involves model number 416407. The white laminated chest has a single white wood pull on each of its 4 drawers. The product was sold online at Walmart from April through June 2013.

Because of a manufacturing problem, the CPSC warns that these dressers do not comply with the voluntary safety standard in place.

The maker, Saunders Woodworking, is contacting all known purchasers directly and sending free repair kits and wall anchoring kits.
