A former Midway High School principal died Monday in an accident on I-35 near West.
Sharron Zachry, 65, died at the scene after the Ford F-150 her husband was driving rolled over at mile marker 354.
Zachry’s husband, Pat Zachary was a former major league pitcher. He suffered injuries in the crash but is reported to be in stable condition.
According to the Midway ISD website, Sharron Zachry served as principal at Hewitt Elementary, Midway High School and Castleman Creek Elementary School.
Pat pitched from 1976-1985 with the Reds, Mets, Dodgers and Phillies and was a member of the 1976 Reds team that won the World Series.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the accident is still under investigation, however a local news channel was told Pat may have suffered some sort of medical episode just prior to the crash.
