A motorcycle accident in Waco claimed the life or a rider on Monday night when the driver of a Volvo collided with the motorcyclist on North Valley Mills Drive, officials reported.

The motorcyclist who was killed was identified by police as 30-year-old David Wright. Police said he was riding a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle.

According to reports published by KWTX News, the driver of the Volvo may have pulled out in front of the motorcyclist. As a result of the collision, Wright was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into the roadway.

Wright was transported to Hillcrest Medical Center but was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Officials are still investigating the Waco motorcycle crash and no charges were filed against the driver of the Volvo. Police did not reveal whether they planned to filed charges against the driver of the vehicle.

Because of the lacking protection provided by motorcycles to riders, a collision with a passenger vehicle can be deadly, resulting in rider ejection from a bike and injuries caused by the impact.
