Rollover injures 3 south of Diboll

A single-vehicle rollover, likely caused by a tire blowout, sent three people to hospital in Diboll on Monday afternoon, say the local authorities.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, a black Ford SUV was travelling southbound when a tire blowout caused the vehicle to cross the median into northbound traffic, where it rolled into the ditch, landing on its roof.

Authorities had originally blocked the entire northbound section of the road in order for a helicopter to land, but paramedics decided against transporting the patients by flight and ended up taking all three to a local hospital by ambulance.

All three have been reported to have serious injuries. The names of those involved were not immediately available.

Police officials believe all three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
