A fatal 18 wheeler accident in San Angelo on Wednesday killed the passenger in a GMC Envoy that was struck by the tractor trailer while traveling on U.S. 277.
According to police, the young man who was killed was identified as 17-year-old Gavino Madrid. The driver of the GMC was identified as 16-year-old Cheyanne Peterman. Highway safety advocates in the region were quick to point out the need for improved roads on that sections of U.S. 277, where the intersection battles poor visibility, which may have made it difficult for the driver of the SUV that was struck by the 18 wheeler truck to see the big rig before pulling onto the interstate.
