A San Antonio auto parts store manager was crushed by an 18 wheeler truck Tuesday, when the driver backed over him at a warehouse, killing him, authorities said.
According to reports, 40-year-old Solomon W. Roberts was pronounced dead after being transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, an hour after the fatal accident occurred.
The driver of the truck reportedly saw Roberts removing trash from behind the truck but thought he had moved and began backing it up in order for the men to unload it. Police identified the driver as 59-year-old Charles Irvin Long, an employee of Mid South Transport Inc.
Long told authorities he backed the truck up and saw Roberts fall to the ground after he pulled forward to straighten the 18 wheeler truck out to begin backing up again. Police said Roberts had been pinned against the loading dock by the massive semi.
