Two passengers were injured in a bus crash in San Antonio, Tuesday evening, stemming from the possible inattention of the bus’ driver, police said.
The injured female passenger hit her mouth on a pole, leaving her bruised, while the injured male passenger hit a support post between two seats, bruising his chest. Both injured parties were taken to Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. Three other passengers riding were not injured in the bus accident.
Officials said the bus was headed North on Flores Street when it struck an SUV, spinning the vehicle around a nearby pole.
“The driver was in shock, witness, Granciano Rivera, 22, said.
The driver of the bus was not charged and authorities do not suspect alcohol or drowsiness were involved in the accident.
The San Antonio Metropolitan Transit bus dragged the Suburban SUV as much as 60 feet, according to witnesses, leaving it in a mangled heap.
“Look at how the car was left, SUV owner, Rita Taberez, 43 said in Spanish. “But it’s just a material loss. The good thing is my daughter and her boyfriend are ok.”
Investigation of the accident is still being conducted.
