San Antonio Construction Truck Accident Kills One

One person is dead following a collision involving an SUV and construction truck, Tuesday morning, San Antonio Police Department officials said.

The truck accident occurred before 5 a.m. near Austin Highway in San Antonio, when a construction vehicle was driving along the road picking up construction barrels.

Forty-four-year-old Bill Vaughn, the driver of a green SUV, traveling along the highway in the fast lane, was not able to slow down in time to avoid the construction truck and slammed into it, officials on the scene believe.

Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene, although the body was trapped in the vehicle well after the crash, authorities said.

“There should have been signage up, still, that it’s a work zone area, Texas Department of Trasnportation representative, Laura Lopez said.
