San Antonio Hit-And-Run Accident Injures One

A San Antonio pedestrian accident left one man seriously injured Sunday morning when he was hit by an SUV, which fled the scene of the Texas crash, police said.

The victim, only identified as a man in his twenties, experienced serious head injuries as a result of the hit-and-run. He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Police are searching for the driver of a dark-colored SUV.

An update regarding the current status of the victim’s injuries has not yet been released and police have not disclosed whether or not they found the person responsible for the crime.

According to the National Highway Traffic Association and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, pedestrian fatalities account for 11 percent of motor vehicle deaths. Pedestrian involved in motor-vehicle accidents have risk of injuries, including:

  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Paraplegia
  • Quadriplegia
  • Coma
  • Fractured bones
