Seguin Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Hwy 46

A resident of Seguin was killed in a Texas motorcycle accident when the rider slammed into a vehicle turning left at the intersection of SH 46 and East Kingsbury on Wednesday morning, officials said.

The motorcyclist who was killed was identified as 23-year-old Steven Carter Jr. Police said Carter was wearing a helmet at the time of the Seguin motorcycle crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Officials identified the driver of the vehicle involved as 24-year-old Kianna Dawkins, a resident of Cibolo.

Dawkins may be charged with making an unsafe left turn and driving with an invalid driver’s license, authorities said.

Police said Dawkins may not have realized how quickly Carter was approaching the intersection and made a left turn. Police did not note whether Dawkins was injured in the Seguin motorcycle accident.

Despite the much smaller size of a motorcycle in contrast with a passenger vehicle, riders and drivers alike have a responsibility to drive in an attentive manner, paying close attention to surrounding vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians sharing the roadways.
