A collision with an 18 wheeler on U.S. Hwy 90A claimed the life of the driver of a passenger vehicle, who lost control of the SUV he was driving on Sunday morning, officials said.

Police identified the man as 38-year-old Herman Zamora, a resident of Gonzales, Texas.

Gonzales was driving a 2005 Jeep SUV when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and attempted to regain control by overcorrecting. The vehicle swerved into the path of a 2012 Peterbilt semi truck.

The semi-truck was driven by San Antonio resident, Michael Ramirez, officials reported. He was not injured in the semi truck accident on Hwy 90A.

Authorities are still investigating the 18 wheeler accident outside Gonzales and the roadway was shut down while evidence was gathered.
