Icy conditions on a Tarrant County road left a motorcyclist seriously injured Tuesday night, sparking concern regarding the safety of roads in the area.

Although it had not rained, investigations revealed the unidentified man may have slipped on icy pavement. The Texas motorcycle accident occurred on FM 1187, authorities said.

According the Texas Department of Transportation, it has been difficult for authorities to keep the roadway safe since it often collects water even without inclement weather conditions.

Family members told reports that the man, who is still not being identified, was listed in critical condition. It was unknown whether or not he was wearing a helmet.
