Slaton, Texas Man Killed in Single Vehicle Rollover Crash

A rollover accident on FM 400 left one man dead when he lost control of his vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officials identified the man killed in the tragic single vehicle rollover as 55-year-old Slaton, Texas resident, Henry Barrera.

Barrera was transported to Covenant Hospital where he later passed away as a result of serious injuries he had suffered in the car accident.

Police believe Barrera lost control of the vehicle while traveling on a curve near CR 7800. As a result, he overcorrected the pickup truck and the vehicle overturned several times. Officials are still investigating the rollover accident but do not believe Barrera was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As a result, he was ejected from the pickup truck.

Rollover and single vehicle accidents often leave loved ones and victims suffering with severe injuries wondering what could have been done differently to prevent the accident from occurring. But despite blaming oneself or drivers, some instances where rollovers occur can be tied to defects or malfunctions in vehicle equipment, such as seatbelts, airbags and tires. In addition, the construction and design of a vehicle can play a large role in protecting occupants within vehicles, especially those which are more prone to overturning.
