Student Killed in Bellmead Car Accident on I-35

A Bellmead rollover accident claimed the life of a young TSTC student, who was traveling on I-35 when he lost control of his pickup truck and it overturned on Monday night, police reported.

The young man was identified as 18-year-old Dylan Martin, of Leander, Texas. According to police Martin was pronounced dead at the scene of the single vehicle rollover crash on I-35.

Police believe Martin was, in fact, wearing a seatbelt at the time of the auto accident. The details regarding the types of injuries he endured were not revealed. No other vehicles were involved in the rollover crash and no other occupants were in the pickup truck at the time of the wreck.

Although some victims and family members who’ve experienced a rollover accident may look for reasons or blame themselves, some of these types of accidents may have been prevented with adequately operating safety equipment. In some situations, serious injuries may have been prevented by seatbelts, correctly operating airbags or an adequate roof that prevents the crushing blows coinciding with a rollover impact. While many consumers place their faith in the safety of a vehicle and its design, not all automakers prioritize the safety of consumers in contrast with their own bottom line. As a result, inadequacies in the equipment may fail to protect occupants from preventable injuries and death.
