Texas Truck Accident on Hwy 95 Kills Former San Antonio Detective
A retired San Antonio Police Department detective was killed in an 18 wheeler pileup in Florence on Wednesday when a driver slammed on his brakes to avoid a dog and the big rig behind it rear ended it, sparking subsequent collision, officials reported.
The detective was identified by authorities as 68-year-old Roger Miller. According to reports Miller was the driver of a Honda SUV involved in the Texas truck crash.
The driver of the pickup truck that slammed on his breaks to avoid the dog was identified as 67-year-old Robert Lazcano.
The driver of the semi-truck that struck Lazcano’s vehicle was identified by officials as 45-year-old Anthony Flores.
The impact of the 18 wheeler rear end collision sent Lazcano’s pickup truck into the opposite lane of traffic, smashing into an oncoming Honda, driven by Miller.
Another pickup truck was involved in the multiple vehicle car accident in Wilson County. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck accident on Hwy 97.
The dog was also killed in the accident. The driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured. Lazcano was transported to University Hospital via helicopter, police said.
