Tire blowout causes car and fire truck to collide, killing two

A passenger vehicle and a fire truck collided late Sunday afternoon, killing two people and injuring another, near Bonham.

According to police, 22-year-old Christopher Nelson, from Austin, Arkansas was travelling east on Highway 82 when one of the front tires of his fire truck blew out. Nelson lost control and swerved into the westbound lane.

A car that was travelling westbound veered into the ditch, where both vehicles collided.

Jose and Ana Chavez of Reno, Texas died on scene while a passenger in the firetruck was taken to hospital for treatment.
