Tire Blowout Sparks Deadly Car Accident in Milam County
A tire blowout in Milam County sparked a head on collision, killing one woman and injuring four others, officials reported.
The woman was identified as 62-year-old Dykes Kirkpatrick, a resident of Hempstead.
The injured man was identified as 52-year-old Spring, Texas resident Robert Dwayne Coleman.
Police said the woman was driving a Ford Expedition SUV when a pickup truck hauling a trailer slammed into her vehicle after it had experienced a tire blowout. The Pickup truck was identified as a 2001 Ford F-250. The pickup truck’s driver, identified as Coleman, lost control after the tire exploded, slamming into the SUV.
Three teens were transported to McLane Children’s Hospital for the treatment of injuries they endured in the tire blowout accident. All three boys were listed in stable condition, officials reported.
Police believe the front left tire on the pickup truck was the tire that failed, sparking the collision.
All three teens were passengers in the pickup truck. Kirkpatrick was alone in her SUV at the time of the Texas crash.
