A Snyder, Texas tire car accident claimed the life of a 2-month-old baby and seriously injured three other children traveling in a Ford SUV that experienced a tire blowout.
Police identified the baby as Trinity Raelee-Lynn Liebhaber. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the rollover accident on Highway 84.
Three other young passengers were injured in the Snyder car accident, despite wearing seatbelts, officials said. Nathaniel Parker, a 15-year-old resident of Coleman, was transported to Snyder’s Cogdell Hospital.
Two-year-old David Liebhaber and one-year-old Alexander Liebhaber, both residents of Coleman, Texas, were transported to University Medical Hospital in Lubbock for the treatment of injuries they incurred in the rollover accident.
The driver of the 2000 Ford Explorer was identified as Joshua Liebhaber. According to police reports, the driver was traveling south on Highway 84, when the rear tire of the SUV lost air, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and overcorrect. The catastrophic loss of air caused the SUV to rollover several times.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of those involved in this tragic accident.
As the weather heats up and families spend more time on the road, tire blowouts and rollover accidents seem to increase, causing serious injuries and death among passengers and drivers.
In some instances where tire blowouts occur, resulting accidents may have been prevented if greater care was taken during the manufacturing process and the selection of SUV tires. The heavier weight and larger size of SUV’s usually require larger tire, which have the capability to support such a vehicle. But in some situations, manufacturers may have outfitted a vehicle with a tire that doesn’t meet the vehicles weight needs, making the tire more susceptible for blowouts and swift loss of air that can have fatal consequences.
Many such tire blowouts or instances of tire failure take place on the rear, driver’s side tire, making it even more difficult for drivers to control an affected vehicle, sometimes provoking overcorrection.
