A rollover accident in Loop 410, involving a Jeep SUV, left a toddler in critical condition when the child was ejected from the vehicle, in her car seat.

The San Antonio car accident on Loop 410 also injured a 5-year-old and a woman.

According to authorities on the scene of the single vehicle rollover in San Antonio, the driver lost control of the Jeep SUV and overcorrected in an attempt to regain control. As a result, the Jeep hit an 18 wheeler truck then swerved onto the access road before rolling multiple times.

While we often rely on car seats to protect some of our most precious cargo, some safety restraints for children can cause serious injuries and even death when they fail to work as they were designed because of flaws or defects. Some of the flaws and car seat defects that can result in life threatening injuries include; poor car seat construction, defective car seat harness, separation of the seat from the base, the use of flammable materials, flawed handles.

Although safety restraints are designed to keep a child or infant within the vehicle during an accident, such as a rollover crash, some of the injuries children experience as a result of a bad car seat may even be caused by flawed handles for bucket-style car seats that can cause fall injuries.
