Truck Accident in Lubbock Claims Life of Aspermont Man

A three-vehicle accident on U.S. 380, near U.S. 83, left one man dead when his pickup truck smashed into the back of a Mack truck, police said.

Officials identified the man as 18-year-old Aspermont resident, Matthew Zinn Lindsey. Lindsey was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Police said the accident occurred when the driver of a Mack truck pulling a dump trailer pulled to the side of the highway to allow for an oversized freightliner traveling in the opposite lane of traffic. As a result Lindsey struck the rear of the Mack truck. As a result of the rear-ending accident, officials said Lindsey’s pickup was thrown into the path of the freightliner. The roof of Lindsey’s pickup truck was sliced off completely.

The driver of the Mack truck was identified as 40-year-old Shane Rogers, of Roscoe. The freightliner operator was identified as 28-year-old James Michael Green, a resident of Abilene.
