Two Children Killed in SUV Rollover Accident in San Antonio

Two children were killed in a rollover accident caused by a Ford Expedition tire blowouton Sunday on I-35 and Loop 410.

Police identified the children as 6-year-old Keylin Panchame and 4-year-old Jessie Panchame.

The tragic rollover accident in San Antonio took a surprising twist when the driver of the SUV disappeared from the scene of the single vehicle accident. Officials said the driver of the SUv was identified as the children’s mother’s boyfriend. A 14-year-old boy was also injured in the car wreck and is undergoing surgery, authorities said.

According to investigators at the scene, the driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle when one of the tires blew out, causing the vehicle to smash into a nearby guardrail and overturn.

Both children were ejected from the vehicle as it overturned. The younger child, Jessie Panchame, was struck by an 18 wheeler. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the Ford Expedition rollover accident.

Two passengers, the children’s mother and the 14-yar-old, and the older child, Keylin Panchame, were transported to University Hospital where the girl died from the injuries she sustained in the SUV rollover accident.

Ford SUV’s have been plagued with issues related to crashworthiness and defective tires that result in serious tire blowout accidents. Firestone tires used on the vehicle were found to have serious defects, causing blowouts and tread separation. In addition, the boxy design of Ford SUV’s made them vulnerable to rollover, with a higher center of gravity.
