Two Dead in Austin Car Accident Involving Wrong Way Vehicle on Mopac

A wrong-way accident in Austin claimed the lives of two people after the vehicles collided on Mopac near Duval, police reported.

Although the woman who was killed in the head-on collision has not yet been identified, police said she was the 40-year-old driver of the Honda sedan. The driver of the Chevy was identified as a male, who was transported to a Round Rock hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not yet revealed which of the vehicles was traveling in the wrong direction on Mopac.

As a result of the impact, one of the vehicles involved caught fire.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol may have contributed to the Austin wrong-way accident.
