An 18 wheeler accident in San Marcos forced officials to shut northbound lanes of I-35 for several hours. At least two of the drivers involved in the semi-truck crash were transported to area hospitals for the treatment of injuries they endured.
According to a report published by KVUE News, the I-35 accident in San Marcos occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Although two of the drivers were transported to the hospital, police said their injuries were non-life threatening.
The highway was closed as emergency crews cleaned up as much as 30 gallons of diesel that had spilled into the roadway as a result of the multi-truck collision.
Authorities are still investigating what may have sparked the crash.
Drowsy driving can often be the root of some truck accidents occurring across the state as drivers and companies rush to ship goods across the nation. But while there is often pressure on companies to meet shipping deadlines, government standards manage the time drivers are allowed to spend, consecutively, on the roads. Stopping, resting and taking breaks are a good way for drivers to regain focus and get necessary sleep, improving their ability to react to various hazards or problems on the interstates and highways they travel.
