Two Killed in Fatal Car Accident in Austin on Research Boulevard
A North Austin car accident at the intersection of Research Boulevard and Balcones Woods claimed the lives of two people on Tuesday afternoon, officials reported.
The two people killed in the wreck were identified as James R. Clopton, 49, and Lynne M. Clopton, 46. The driver of the SUV involved was identified as Melissa Marshall. Police said Marshall was charged with a DWI at the time of the crash.
On the people killed in the auto accident in Austin was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge but later died as a result of their injuries. Additionally, one other person involved in the accident endured injuries.
Police reports noted that an Ford SUV and a Honda sedan collided. Investigations are still underway to determine what may have sparked the Central Texas collision. A driver and passenger in the Honda Civic were the two people who were killed in the crash.
As a result of the auto accident, officials closed north bound lanes of traffic on U.S. 183.
Police believe one of the vehicles involved ran a red light, sparking the car wreck.
