A rollover accident in San Antonio claimed the lives of two women when the Chevrolet Trailblazer they were traveling in lost control, smashed into a barrier and landed on its roof.
The San Antonio rollover accident occurred on the access road on I-10 near the turnaround ramp on Ramsgate at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Police have not yet released the identities of the women who were killed in the accident but they do not believe either woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the San Antonio wreck. But women had to be cut out from the vehicle by emergency crew members, KSAT News reported.
The driver of the SUV was transported to University hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical center. The passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the rollover accident in San Antonio.
Police are still investigating the single-vehicle accident in order to reveal whether alcohol may have played a role in the fatal crash. Authorities do believe that speed may have been a factor associated with the loss of control.

Rollover accidents can be sparked by a variety of factors, from uneven surfaces, other vehicles and debris tripping a vehicle up to high speeds and imbalanced vehicles with higher centers of gravity. But despite the number of reasons that a vehicle may overturn, auto standards are such that drivers and passengers should be protected by reinforced roofs, seatbelts, airbags and other safety equipment outfitted within a vehicle.
