Young Man Injured in Single Vehicle Accident in Lufkin Dies
An accident police believe may have been sparked by alcohol resulted in the death of a Lufkin man, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of thesingle-car accident in East Texas.
Police identified the young man as 19-year-old Jaron Parrish, who was transported to East Texas Medical Center, in Tyler, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Alexandra Porras, 19, lost control of the vehicle while traveling down FM 1194. Officials said Porras overcorrected in an attempt to regain control of the car before striking a nearby tree.
Two other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Police identified them as 19-year-old Willie Gilder and 21-year-old Oscar Rodriguez. They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the Lufkin car accident.
Gilder and Rodriguez were listed in non-life threatening condition.
