Regent University School of Law , Virginia Beach, Virginia – J.D.
Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina – B.S.
For the past several years, the focus of J.T.’s practice has been nursing home neglect and abuse cases. Pursuing these types of cases requires experience, knowledge, professionalism, and drive – all of which J.T. has plenty.
Proving neglect or abuse is often a difficult task because of all of the measures to which a nursing home chain will go to cover up their misdeeds. The work is sometimes made even more difficult because, in some cases, victims are too afraid or physically unable to speak for themselves. J.T. has quickly become a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. He has appeared on Dallas’ WFAA, San Antonio’s KENS 5, and El Paso’s KFOX in their reporting of problems with nursing homes in Texas. He has been quoted in articles by The Texas Tribune and the Texas Observer. He was also asked by a member of the Texas House Human Services Committee to testify before them as a nursing home expert.
Nationally, J.T. is a leader among those who advocate for the victims of nursing home neglect and abuse. He has given seminar presentations to nursing home advocates from Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
J.T. is an active member of various professional associations including The Capital Area Trial Lawyer Association and the Texas Trial Lawyers’ Association (TTLA). Each legislative session J.T. serves on TTLA’s Medical Malpractice Bill Review Committee to alert the Association as to issues that should be of concern for its members. On several occasions, TTLA has asked J.T. to lobby Texas state Representatives and Senators on issues impacting Texas nursing home residents. He has also been asked by Legislators to help them in crafting legislative proposals that relate to the way Texas nursing homes are operated.
J.T. was born in Greenville, South Carolina. His father was in the ministry, which led to the family moving often. J.T. has lived in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, and Texas.
Having previously earned a B.S. from Bob Jones University in 1984, J.T. later graduated from Regent University School of Law in 1995 with his J.D.
Although most of his time is devoted to his profession, J.T. is a devoted family man. He and his wife have been married since 1987 and they have been blessed with two wonderful children and a grandson.
