Accidents involving large trucks are a common cause of auto crash related injuries and fatalities that occur on interstates and highways across the nation. Because of the size, weight and reduced control that comes with operating an oversized vehicle, inattention, distractions, drowsiness and lack of training among truck drivers are all dangerous factors that can seriously impact the occupants of passenger cars.

As many as one in nine traffic fatalities in 2008 were tied to accidents involving big trucks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The high numbers of fatalities associated with big rig accident exemplifies the severe damage that sometimes accompanies even small accidents involving big rigs.
