Boating accident leaves 1 dead, 3 injured on Lake Sam Rayburn

One man is dead and three others are injured following a boat crash on Lake Sam Rayburn, in Jasper County late Tuesday night.

39-year-old Jerry Todd Cross, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was operating the boat when it struck a very small island, just offshore from the Twin Dikes Boat Ramp. The following morning, the spot where they hit the island was very obvious, and it appeared that the impact was at a significant speed.

34-year-old Casey Weston Thibodeaux, of Orangefield, was taken to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth via lifeflight, her condition is stable, but she remains on a ventilator.

Thibodeaux’s 11-year-old daughter was also in the boat at the time of the accident, but she only suffered minor injuries.

There is still no word on the condition of Cross’ daughter, who was in the boat as well.
