Man Killed in Monahans, Texas Train Accident

A train accident at an unprotected crossing left one man dead, Saturday, when his vehicle was struck by the train, where, officials believe he was parked on or nearby the tracks.

Authorities identified the man as Jamie Richards, 26, a former resident of Carlsbad. According to reports, Richards had just recently gotten off at H&P rig, where he worked, before the Monahans train accidentoccurred.

Richard’s girlfriend had, reportedly, spoken to him over the phone prior to the train accident.

The impact of the train collision with the 2000 Ford Mustang caused the vehicle to be pushed as far as 130 feet.

Richards was pronounced dead at the scene of the Monahans, Texas train accident.

Police are still investigating the accident in an effort to understand why the vehicle was on or near the tracks and what caused the train accident.
