Car Crash Leaves Two Dead, One Injured Near Mineola

An accident north of Mineola killed two people and sent one more to the hospital with serious injuries, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said.
The car accident left one of the cars involved torn almost completely in half, witnesses said. Additionally, the injured occupant was transported via emergency helicopter to a Tyler hospital.
According to witnesses, a northbound pickup truck smashed into a Honda that was getting ready to make a left turn into a rest area parking lot. The pickup truck attempted to go around the turning Honda, skimming the car and spinning into a Toyota Camry.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Michael West, 38, of Alba, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda, 69-year-old Margaret Miller, of Sherman, was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and has been listed in critical condition. The driver of the Camry, Angela Ann Shoffstall, of Fairview, was also transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Shoffstall’s passenger, Suzan Fincher of Sherman, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said the truck was seen rolling. The truck driver and the driver of the Camry were pronounced dead at the scene of the grizzly car accident near Mineola.
