One Killed, Five Injured Collision with Ambulance in Houston

A collision between a sport utility vehicle and an ambulance in Houston sent several people to the hospital with injuries and claimed the life of the driver of the SUV, officials reported.

Although the identities of those involved have not yet been released, police said five emergency responders in the back of the ambulance and the relative of a patient in the parked emergency vehicle were injured as a result of the Texas collision.

Four of those responders were firefighters who had been treating a patient who had suffered, what they believed, was a heart attack. A relative of that patient was also injured as a result of the ambulance accident in Houston.

The patient that was being treated for the possible heart attack was also hospitalized but it was unknown if that victim had endured injuries caused by the collision.

Authorities reported that the parked ambulance was using flashing lights at the time of the crash.
