Pregnant Woman Killed in Martin County 18 Wheeler Accident, Husband Critically Injured
A pregnant woman was killed and her husband seriously injured in an 18 wheeler accident, when the vehicle they were traveling in was struck, head-on, by commercial truck that was attempting to pass a vehicle in a no-pass zone last Saturday, officials said.
The woman, who was pregnant at the time of the 18 wheeler accident, was identified as Catherine Porter. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died from the injuries caused by the truck accident. Her husband, who was recently listed in critical condition, was identified as Russell Porter. Russell Porter was driving the pickup truck when the 18 wheeler crash occurred in Martine County.
Russell Porter was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, authorities said.
The driver of the semi-truck that struck the couple was identified as 21-year-old Devon Lee Spears. Police did not reveal what company Spears was driving for.
According to NewsWest9 Texas Troopers are contemplating charges against Spears for his role in the 18 wheeler crash in Martin County.
