Six Children Injured in I-35 Daycare Bus Accident in Central Texas
A church daycare bus filled with as many as 20 children was involved in a school bus accident on I-35 near Bellmead, sending 6 to the hospital with injuries resulting from the collision, officials said on Friday afternoon.
The children were being transported to an after school care program at Church of the Open Door when another vehicle failed to yield the right of way, sparking the Texas collision. The collision left the bus in a ditch near the interstate.
Five of the children transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical center were later released on Friday evening, although one child was still receiving treatment for cuts endured in the Central Texas car accident.
A car and a truck were also involved in the Central Texas motor vehicle accident. Police have not yet released the identity of the driver they have said is responsible for not yielding properly.
The children being transported to the after school program were students at Connally schools, ranging in age from 6 to 8, authorities said.
